The autobiographical drama "Roma" by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón has received not only the Director's Award at the British Bafta Film Awards, but also the award for Best Picture. The trophies of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) were awarded on Sunday evening in London's Royal Albert Hall. "Roma" confirmed with the two main prizes his role as a top favorite at the Academy Awards in two weeks.

Cuarón's Netflix streaming service has already won a Golden Globe. In addition, Cuarón can hope for an Oscar with his film in ten categories, including best film and best director.

British actress Olivia Coleman received the Bafta Award for Best Actress for her role as British Queen Anne in the feature film "The Favorite - Intrigue and Insanity" by Yorgos Lanthimos. With a total of twelve nominations, the film was a favorite in the Bafta Awards. As the best actor Rami Malek from the USA was honored for his role as Queen-frontman Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody".
