Heavy rains caused flooding in eastern Mallorca on Tuesday, with many people spending the night in shelters. At least ten people died, a German couple is still missing on Thursday. The hardest hit were the towns of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, S'Illiot and Arta around 60 kilometers east of Palma.

Meanwhile, tourists on the Balearic island but hardly expect any restrictions. An overview:

  • Traffic and transfer: Especially in the east of the Balearic island, water masses have caused chaos on the roads, according to the ADAC. A spokeswoman for Thomas Cook reports that roads were flooded there and had to be closed. Some transfers could not take place on schedule. At present, the clean-up work on the island is in full swing, the Civil Guard and the military are in action. The tourist region in the west was largely spared. According to TUI Germany, transfers and excursions take place. Thomas Cook also informs that meanwhile the ways to the hotels are passable again.
  • Flights: The operation at the airport of Palma has been delayed, according to ADAC by the storm in recent days. There were delays in takeoffs and landings. Some guests were therefore unable to make their return flight as planned and were rebooked, including a spokeswoman for Thomas Cook. According to the German Travel Association (DRV), the problems at the airport are now solved.
  • Hotels: Some tour operators report minor damage to hotels. A spokeswoman for TUI Germany reports that the repair work has meanwhile been largely completed. At Alltours, a few guests had to be relocated. According to DRV, holidaymakers no longer have to expect any restrictions in the coming weeks.
