The phone rang, but the other end of the line was silent. Dozens of calls from a veterinary clinic in Hawaii have terrified their director. But it was not an emergency, but an animal phone prank.

Claire Simeone sat at lunch when her cellphone rang. The call came from the Hawaii Marine Mammal, which leads the veterinarian as director. But when Simeone answered the call, nobody spoke to her. The line remained silent.

The veterinarian hung up. But the caller tried again and again with her. After her phone had rung for the ninth time, she drove back to the Animal Hospital. Maybe it was an emergency?

Back at the station, she spoke to her staff about the many calls. But everyone assured her not to call her. Everything is fine. Simeone wondered and asked the telephone company. Again, you could not explain the telephone terror. Meanwhile, more people had complained to the veterinary clinic. They too had received dozens of calls.

So Simeone looked in the veterinary clinic for the dubious caller. She ran through the building, but nowhere did she discover anything, the vet wrote on Twitter. In the lab, she finally discovered the culprit. It was a gecko.

THERE IS A GECKO SITTING ON THE TOUCHSCREEN OF THE PHONE, MAKING CALLS WITH HIS TINY GECKO FEET !!! This gecko has called me 15 times, and everyone in our recent call list. * Actual photo of telemarketer * @TMMC @GEICO @HawaiianTel pic.twitter.com/USyKeOiDbE

The animal was walking around on the phone and "called with his tiny gecko feet," writes Simeone. "This gecko called me 15 times and everyone in the call log."

For the animal caller, it went back to freedom. Simeone put him out on a plant.
