The album will be available exclusively, starting June 7, on the Tidal online music platform. It will then be posted on June 21 on all other streaming and CD services.

Prince's heirs agreed to the release in June of a new album by the late American singer, including 14 new tracks. It will consist mainly of the demos recorded for other artists and many of which have subsequently become hits.

An exit in two stages

The album will be available exclusively, as of June 7, Prince's birthday, for two weeks on the online music platform Tidal, whose rapper Jay-Z is major shareholder, according to a statement released Thursday. It will then go online on June 21 on all other streaming services, available for download but also sold on CD. A vinyl version will be released in July.

Tubes sung by Prince

The project aims to highlight the work Prince has done for others, a lesser known aspect of his work. The album, titled Originals , will include work recordings of tracks that later became global hits recorded by others. Manic Monday (Bangles), The Glamorous Life (Sheila E.), Nothing Compares 2 U (Sinead O'Connor) or Love ... Thy Will Be Done (Martika), featured on this new album in their original version sung by Prince, have all climbed into the top 10 record sales in the United States.
