Dumbo

Contrary to expectations, the new “Dumbo” was not a film adaptation of the cartoon of the same name in 1941, but a very free remake on the subject. At the center of the narrative is still a little elephant with extremely large ears, separated from the beloved mother by the will of circumstances. But now Dumbo almost immediately demonstrates his levitational abilities and becomes a circus celebrity. So, the elephant, along with the whole troupe, is lured to his job by the owner of the largest amusement park in the States.

Like all the works of Disney, "Dumbo" turned out beautiful and spectacular. But, at the same time, - boring and rather banal (Tim Burton's directorial style in the tape, of course, is not traced in any way). However, children of primary school age will surely like the picture at the expense of a bright visual range, while adults will be able to enjoy the cast: in the caste there are Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, Michael Keaton and Eva Green.

"Beach Bum"

A poet named Moon Dog (Matthew McConaughey) lives in Key West, a small town in Florida. There are expensive resorts and the winter residence of the President of the United States, and the temperature never drops below zero. In literary circles of the Moon Dog, they know as the author of quite good poems, however, for the locals, he is above all a carefree and childish person who walks all day long naked to the waist, spends the night at the beach and does not miss a single party. He has an “open relationship” with his wife, so her intrigue with the rapper (Snoop Dogg) does not bother the hero - as, by the way, everything else in the world. However, by chance, the poet has to leave the comfort zone.

In addition to McConaughey and Snoop Dogg, Martin Lawrence and John Hill in particular took part in the film. Directed by Harmony Korin, best known for the drama “Tying holidays” included in the main competition of the 69th Venice Film Festival. Critics point out that the role of the Moon Dog is ideal for McConaughey, but at the same time pointing to a rather vague plot of the tape. On the Rotten Tomatoes portal, only half of the reviews on Beach Slacker are positive.

"We" (Us)

Adelaide and Gabe Wilson with their children go on holiday in Santa Cruz. Adelaide recalls that she had already been in that place, and then a strange incident happened to her: in the house with curved mirrors she met a double. The girl tries to forget children's fears and concentrate on rest, but the nightmare from childhood comes back: several people rush into the house, outwardly absolutely no different from Wilsons. At the head of the aggressors is the twin girl named Red, whom Adelaide had seen.

The director and scriptwriter of this film Jordan Peel in 2018 received the Oscar for the script for the horror film "Off." Then, using the horror genre techniques, he addressed the issue of interracial relations in the United States.

In the new tape, Peel again affects social issues. The critics accepted the tape positively - “We” is called the best horror film of 2019. The audience also enjoys success: worldwide it earned more than $ 90 million with a budget of $ 20 million. Adelaide's role was played by Oscar winner Lupita Nyongo (“12 years of slavery”), and her husband Gabe was Winston Duke (“ Avengers: War of Infinity ”).

"Ambivalence"

Petya and Stas are friends and study together for psychiatrists. They have different characters, views on life and future profession, but this does not prevent young people from finding a common language. They visit couples, practice in hospitals, and in their free time they meet at concerts. Once Petya helps Stas's mother to overcome a panic attack and, despite the difference in age, a feeling erupts between them. It compromises the relationship of friends.

The filmmakers, as promised, demonstrate a “complex, strange and ambiguous” view of love, and the slogan “Madness is closer than it seems” suggests that the story goes beyond the ordinary melodrama. The leading roles in the film were performed by Danil Steklov (“Burn”), Yegor Morozov (“Time of the First”) and Olga Tsirsen (“The White Dance”). The director's chair was taken by Anton Bilzho, who had previously been mainly engaged in a short meter. His father, a well-known cartoonist and psychiatrist Andrei Bilzho, advised the creators of Ambivalence, and also starred in a cameo role.

Amusement Park (Swoon)

The film takes place in Sweden in the first half of the twentieth century. Two family clans have adjacent amusement parks. Intense competition dictates its own rules: families are ready to do anything to get around each other and attract as many visitors as possible. The main characters - John and Ninni - belong to these warring clans. Since childhood, they are accustomed to rivalry, but all that changes is unparalleled love.

The tape was staged by director tandem Mons Morlinde and Bjørn Stein. More than 15 years of cooperation and 11 joint films have been on the account of Swedish directors. They managed to work in Hollywood, removing the action movie about vampires "Another World" with Kate Beckinsale in the lead role. The roles of John and Ninni in “Theme Park” were performed by Alben Grönholm and Frida Gustavsson.

"100 things and nothing more" (100 Dinge)

Once the best friends of Tony and Paul make a bet: each of them refuses for 100 days all his things. So they want to prove to each other that the most valuable thing for them is not material wealth, but friendship. Under the terms of the contract, every day during this period they are returned on one subject. However, love interferes in the plans of friends: young people get acquainted with a beautiful girl.

Director, screenwriter and performer of one of the main roles was Florian David Fitz - the creator of the tapes “Jesus Loves Me” (2012) and “The Coolest Day” (2016). However, Fitz viewers are better known as an actor: he has more than 40 roles in film and television.
