With the promise to offer a free checking account without any conditions hidden in footnotes, Deutsche Kreditbank claims to have been able to convince more than 5.2 million people of its financial services in Germany.

In the future, however, it is likely to be somewhat more difficult for the bank to acquire new private customers.

Because your unconditional free checking account is history.

As can be seen from the Bayern LB subsidiary's list of prices and services, which has been in effect since Wednesday, new customers now pay EUR 4.50 a month for the first account with the bank, and EUR 2.50 a month for a second account.

You can only avoid the account management fee if you are no more than 28 years old or can show that you have received at least 700 euros a month.

The current account offer for children and young people under the age of 18 remains free of charge.

Nothing will change for existing customers, at least as far as account fees are concerned.

Anyone who opened a current account with the bank before September 14, 2022 can continue to do so free of charge.

However, the DKB continues to take the path of charging money for the issuance of certain card types.

If you want to use a giro card, you have to pay 0.99 cents a month.

The annual fee of 11.88 euros is to be paid in advance, according to the conditions.

Most recently, the DKB also documented the use of Visa credit cards with a fee of EUR 2.49 per month.

This means that only the Visa debit card that has been issued to all customers in recent months remains free of charge.
