9 years after the earthquake Nissho submits a request for continued support to the Minister of Reconstruction March 9 18:01

Just nine years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mimura told the Minister of Reconstruction and Recovery Tanaka that the government needed the necessary support even after the “Reconstruction and Creation Period” ended in March next year. You have submitted a request to continue.

Mr. Mimura, President of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited the Reconstruction Agency together with Chairman Hiroshi Kamada of the Federation of Tohoku Roku Prefectural Chambers of Commerce and submitted a request form to the Minister of Reconstruction, Tanaka.

According to the request, the government will continue to provide necessary assistance until the disaster-stricken area achieves full recovery even after the "reconstruction and creation period", which the government regards as the final stage of reconstruction after the disaster, ends at the end of March next year. Before the repayment of the loan after the earthquake, we have been calling for assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises, who are suffering from the "double loan" problem, which requires new debt due to a series of typhoons last year.

In addition, we are calling for the proper disposal of water containing radioactive materials such as tritium after treating the contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

In response, Minister Tanaka responded, "I would like to support the government carefully."

After the meeting, Mr. Mimura told reporters, "New issues have emerged in the affected areas, such as the new coronavirus, and I hope that the Reconstruction Agency will be the control tower to address these issues."
