On the 11th, which marks 13 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake and the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, Prime Minister Kishida held a memorial service in Fukushima Prefecture, saying that he would continue to do his best for reconstruction, and that he would share the lessons of the disaster, including how to respond to the Noto Peninsula earthquake. He expressed his determination to utilize this knowledge to build a nation resilient to disasters.

Prime Minister Kishida offered a moment of silence at 2:46 p.m., the time the earthquake occurred.



Afterwards, in his memorial service, he said, ``The huge earthquake, tsunami, and accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant deprived many prefecture residents of their daily lives.When I think of the feelings of those who lost their beloved family members, relatives, and friends, I still feel unbearably saddened."



"Recovery from the nuclear disaster requires a medium- to long-term response, and the government will continue to take the lead in safely and steadily decommissioning the reactor, as well as improving the living environment for those returning home and supporting the revitalization of industry and livelihood. ” he said.



He added, ``During the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, we received warm and reassuring support from Fukushima based on their experience and knowledge from the Great East Japan Earthquake. I once again pledge my firm commitment to building a strong nation in the future."
