Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Legacy Forum, attended by IOC Chairman Thomas Bach, that he would transform the entire Jamsil Sports Complex and use it as a stepping stone to host the 2036 Olympics.

[Sehoon Oh / Mayor of Seoul: We plan to upgrade existing stadium facilities such as the main stadium to host mega sports events such as the Olympics, as well as build international business facilities.

It will be a new beginning to prepare for another Seoul Olympics.]

Then, after viewing the Olympic commemorative photo exhibition with Chairman Bach, we toured the main facilities of the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Mayor Oh will visit Lausanne, Switzerland, where the IOC headquarters is located on the 24th to officially explain the bid plan. Currently, more than 10 cities in Germany, Russia, China, Indonesia, Qatar, Egypt, etc. is showing.

Another variable is how Seoul, which has already failed to co-host Seoul-Pyongyang in 2032, will convince the IOC members of the sole reason to hold the event.

The host of the 2036 Summer Olympics is expected to be decided in 2025, when Bach's term of office ends.
