Just an hour or so after the announcement of Tuchel's resignation, several major English media, including Sky Sports and The Telegraph, reported that Graham Potter is the hottest name to take over Chelsea.

Now it is confirmed that it will be so.

Chelsea announced on Thursday afternoon on the association's website that they signed a five-year contract with the 47-year-old Englishman.

- I am incredibly proud, says Potter to Chelsea's website.

Record-breaking Brighton season

Potter, who coached Östersund from 2011-18 and, among other things, led them from Division 2 to Allsvenskan and a sensational round of 16 in the Europa League, has been coach at Brighton since 2019. The team took the club's best ever league position last season, when the team finished ninth in Premier League.

They have started this year's season brilliantly and are currently fourth, just two points behind league leaders Arsenal.

In addition to the success on the football field, Potter received a lot of international attention for the work he did off the football field, with various cultural activities.

Among other things, the team got to visit a Sami village and stage the ballet Swan Lake.
