Chelsea substitutes snatch victory

In another match, substitutes Karne Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke scored two goals in stoppage time on Sunday, giving Chelsea an exciting 4-2 victory over second-tier Leicester City and qualifying for the FA Cup semi-finals.

The match contained everything required in traditional cup matches, and witnessed excitement towards the end, a missed penalty kick, a red card, an own goal, and some wonderful shots.

Chelsea appeared to be in complete control of the first half after goals from Mark Cucurria and Cole Palmer, although Raheem Sterling missed a penalty kick that Jakub Stolarczyk saved with his legs.

But Frenchman Axel Disasi, Chelsea defender, gifted Leicester a goal in the 51st minute when his pass rushed backwards from a long distance directly towards his team's goal.

Ten minutes later, Stevie Malvidedi fired a stunning shot after an individual effort that dribbled past Malo Giusto, and the ball landed in the top corner, giving Leicester an equaliser.

In the 71st minute, Leicester's Callum Doyle stepped on Nicholas Jackson's heel to block the Chelsea striker who was racing towards the goal.

Referee Andy Madley awarded a penalty kick and issued a yellow card, but after reviewing the video assistant referee, he decided that the violation was from outside the penalty area, so he changed his decision and issued the red card because Jackson’s obstruction prevented him from being alone with the goal.

Chelsea besieged its rival, Leicester, which resulted in 26 shots for the home team, compared to five shots for the rival team belonging to the second division, and the substitutes who participated near the end were the decisive ones.

With 8 minutes of added time remaining, Chukwuemeka turned Cole's back pass into the net and Madueke then shot from long range to double the lead before the final whistle.

Chelsea, which lost the League Cup final to Liverpool last month, will head to Wembley Stadium again next month to compete in the FA Cup semi-finals for the sixth time in 8 years.
