The Czech tennis player Renata Voracova criticized the conditions in a corona quarantine hotel in Melbourne before leaving Australia.

Like the Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic, her visa had been withdrawn before the Australian Open, on Saturday, according to the media, she left the country on a flight to Dubai.

She felt a bit like in a prison, the 38-year-old told the Prague newspaper “MF Dnes” (Saturday).

She was not allowed to leave her room, guards were in the hallway and under her window.

"Do they think that I jump and run," she wondered.

Voracova, who is not listed in the single world rankings and is in 81st place in the double ranking, also complained about hours of interrogation by Australian border officials.

It was "like in an action film," said the Czech.

She accused the Australian Tennis Association of misleading her about the entry requirements.

“I did everything that was asked of me,” she emphasized.

Unlike Djokovic, Voracova said she did not complain about her deportation.

She not only survived a corona infection before Christmas, but could also present other medical reasons for exception, she told the newspaper.

She had already taken part in one of the pre-season tournaments in Melbourne prior to being fixed.

Voracova has apparently left Australia in the meantime and is on his way home according to official information.

Djokovic, the world number one from Serbia, wants to continue to defend his title at the first Grand Slam of the year (from January 17) in Melbourne with a medical exemption.

A court should decide on Monday on the threat of deportation.
