Al-Ahly of Egypt resolves the controversy over its Tunisian star Ali Maaloul

Al-Ahly club, the Egyptian Football League champion, announced today the renewal of the contract of its Tunisian left international defender, Ali Maaloul, for two seasons until the summer of 2024. And Al-Ahly’s contracting director, Amir Tawfiq, announced that all the details with Maaloul had been completed during the past few hours, and obtained his signature, adding that Maaloul would receive an amount of one million. And 250 thousand dollars in his first season, and one million and 350 thousand dollars in the second season, in addition to an advertising contract that he will make.

Maaloul had previously asked for one and a half million dollars per season to renew his contract, which was to expire on June 30.


For his part, the club's director of football, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, confirmed that "Maaloul renewed his contract for two seasons, extending the Tunisian player's association with Al-Ahly until the summer of 2024."

He said in televised statements on Al-Ahly channel, "The matter is over. Maaloul is a player in Al-Ahly for two more seasons, other than the current season."

Maaloul joined Al-Ahly in the summer of 2016 from Sfaxien of Tunisia for 600,000 euros, and won with him 10 local and African titles: the League 4 times, the Egypt Cup twice, the Local Super Cup twice, the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League, 2020-2021 and the African Super Cup.


Maaloul is currently in the Tunisian national team camp in preparation for the African Nations Cup finals scheduled in Cameroon between January 9 and February 6.

Maaloul had revealed, in press statements, after his team crowned the African Super Cup at the expense of Moroccan Raja Casablanca 6-5 on penalties (original time 1-1) last week in Doha, that he would renew his contract with Al-Ahly after returning to Egypt.
