Burnley score a draw against Chelsea

Premier League leaders Chelsea drew 1-1 at home with struggling Burnley after substitute Mate Vedra scored the visitors' goal near the end to cancel out Kai Haverts' lead on Saturday.

Chelsea raised its score to 26 points from 11 games, three points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who won 2-0 away from Manchester United in a derby.

Burnley remained in 18th place with eight points.

And goalkeeper Nick Pope kept Burnley in the game early when he saved two chances from Callum Hudson-Ode and Jorginho, but he did nothing in the 33rd minute to prevent the goal of German striker Haverts after a cross from Reese James.

James found space on the right to send a perfect cross pass to Haverts around her with a header from eight meters into the far corner past Bob, who remained standing on his goal line.

Chelsea continued to press after the break, with a Thiago Silva header hitting the outside of the post before Haverts fired a close-range shot over the goal and Bob saved a Hudson-Ode attempt.

Missed opportunities cost Chelsea dearly, as Burnley equalized from their first dangerous attack after Ashley Westwood crossed a Jay Rodriguez cross to Vedra to put the ball into the goal from close range in the 79th minute.
