After last year's euphoric treble (championship, FA Cup and European Cup), Manchester City entered the knockout matches in the Champions League. The “Citizens”, with their duo Haaland-De Bruyne, did not miss their start to the match against Copenhagen.

After having scored four assists and a goal in four matches before returning to the Champions League, Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring in the eleventh minute with a low cross shot from the right which ended up in the opposite net. The Belgian, away from the field for five months following a serious hamstring injury last August, launched City and scored his first goal of the season in C1.

The Red Devil, definitely back in business, now intends to make up for lost time. Combative, with an emaciated face, the Belgian creator signs a little later an assist on the second goal of the “Citizens” against the Danes. After Mattsson's equalizer (34th), City regained the advantage thanks to Bernardo Silva by punishing a Danish defensive error (45th). In added time, City tripled the lead with a new assist from De Bruyne for Foden (90ᵉ+3).

The reigning Danish champion who caused misery to neighbor Manchester United (4-3) during the group stage last November and held City to a draw (0-0) at the same stage of the competition the previous season, logically bows. For the Citizens, all the lights seem to be green before the final straight in C1.

Copenhagen played at home in a C1 round of 16 for the second time in its history, thirteen years after the first (eliminated by the English Chelsea), while the “Citizens” are in their eleventh in a row.
