The complex was inaugurated by hosting the World Swimming Championships competitions during the period from 15 to 19 December 2010 with the participation of a group of international swimmers, and it is the first time that this tournament was held in an Arab and Middle Eastern country, and it won the admiration and praise of the International Swimming Federation, the participating athletes and international media thanks to the beauty and splendor Its design and implementation, with a capacity of more than 15,000 seated spectators, also contains three main swimming pools, which are: a 50-meter-long main swimming pool for holding competitions, a training pool and a third swimming pool.

The complex consists of four floors that include the offices of operations, management and committees organizing the events that will take place in it, and there are also observation rooms and a room for examining samples of stimulants, and in order to save energy and preserve the environment, modern solar-powered means are used for outdoor lighting and pool water heating.

The seats for the spectators were divided into two upper and lower floors, the lower tier contains 5,000 seats and the upper 10,000 seats, in addition to allocating 12 luxurious VIP suites, all overlooking the main pool of the pool, which enables guests to follow the competitions while they are in their suites, and the complex also contains 6 main hospitality places And two restaurants to provide all the comfort and enjoyment for the masses, in addition to a medical center and multiple rooms for changing clothes and physical therapy for athletes, and the complex also includes parking spaces that can accommodate 1588 cars.

The complex has also been provided with modern communications services sufficient for more than 20 thousand spectators present inside it at the same time, and an electronic panel with a total area of ​​50 square meters, 10 meters high and 6 meters wide, displaying all data and information to the masses such as time, points, results, etc.

The "Hamdan Sports Complex" includes a media center that contains the latest various means of technology, with an area of ​​more than 500 square meters, accommodating more than 200 media professionals sitting on offices equipped with all their needs, as well as a spacious room for holding press conferences before and after the competitions.

The center has a high-speed internet service that can be used by 1000 media professionals at the same time in addition to a platform for journalists near the main basin equipped with all electronic services that allow media professionals to follow competitions and complete their messages without having to leave their place in the platform .. The work in the complex is led by a board of directors composed of national administrative competencies of recognized competence and has great experience in managing investment projects, setting financial policies and making use of the available resources. The International Organization for Standardization granted these certificates to the Hamdan Sports Complex after conducting many visits and auditing the operations and procedures, as the auditors visited all sections of the complex and made sure that the procedures and processes that take place in it were matched with the documented documents that are compatible with international standards, and to ensure the development of work mechanisms and permanent commitment. With international quality standards to serve the sports movement in the country.
