All horse racing will be suspended in France from Tuesday and until April 15, 2020 in the face of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, announced on Monday the companies responsible for organizing horse racing in France.

“Our top priority is the health of all stakeholders in the sector and compliance with state directives. By suspending all competition, we want first and foremost to protect them from the current pandemic ”, explained in a joint press release Jean-Pierre Barjon, president of the Letrot Company, and Edouard de Rothschild, president of France Galop. “We are fully aware of the economic consequences of canceling the races. This is why we have decided to organize a large flow of information from companies in the sector to parent companies, ”they added.

Horse racing companies - which up to now have been organizing trotting, galloping and obstacle course races, behind closed doors - have also announced that they would propose to professional associations "to collect all the useful information, profession by profession. And pass them on to them in the coming weeks. This is "the first step to safeguarding our activity", underline the companies.
