His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, confirmed that the Sharjah Academy for Mathematical Sciences and Outstanding Performance in Kalba City will launch a set of programs and activities, which will provide great benefit to its affiliates and other athletes, to constitute a specialized academic and educational addition to the sports sector.
This came during the signing of His Highness, yesterday morning, in the circuit of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, the agreement to establish the Sharjah Academy for Sports Science and Outstanding Performance, in cooperation with the University of Exeter.
His Highness indicated that the Academy, in addition to its academic and educational process that it will provide to its employees, will provide an opportunity to set up sports camps, provide specialized exercise services and therapy for athletes, and establish matches on its stadiums.
His Highness approved the general plan for the academy site, and reviewed the most prominent initial components of academic and administrative buildings, specialized sports facilities, such as stadiums, indoor sports halls, and other support services.
He directed His Highness to work immediately in implementing the Sports Academy to be accomplished as quickly as possible, and directed the provision of sports and educational facilities in accordance with the highest standards and levels that will constitute a distinct educational and sports environment.
The Sharjah Academy for Sports Science and Outstanding Performance will be a unique development in the Arab world, which combines training and development of elite athletes using advanced science by global experts, as well as offering distinguished educational programs to qualify workers in various fields related to sports and training.
The Academy aims to delve into studying everything related to the components of excellence and quality in sports performance, qualifying the next generation of sports scientists, physical exercise physicians, physical education teachers, and sports coaches, and supporting the development of Emirati and international athletes aspiring to compete at global levels.
And the Academy will work in its first stage to offer two bachelors programs in Sports Science and Training and a Bachelor in Sports Studies and Physical Education, and will include a group of distinguished professors and professionals working in applied sports sciences and teaching and learning methods, and will provide integrated educational methods, based on knowledge of the fundamentals of the components of physiological athletic performance, and mechanics Vitality, nutrition, and psychological focus of practitioners and competitors.
The educational methods in the academy are based on integrating practical training within the requirements of study programs, providing learning in laboratories and laboratories equipped with modern equipment, and using sports facilities built according to modern international specifications, in addition to hosting international experts in the same field to provide workshops and lectures, and will provide services to athletes and distinguished teams At the state and regional levels, to develop and advance their performance in various sports.
In its first stage, it is working on offering two bachelors programs in Sports Science, Training and Physical Education.
