Among them, he concurrently served as deputy secretary of the interim party committee of the institute from 1981-1983. From 1984 to 1986, he concurrently served as Secretary of the Party Committee of the institute.

  Zeng Maochao is one of the founders of the field of computer magnetic recording in China. He participated in and led the peripheral equipment and control of large and medium-sized computers such as the 104 machine, the 119 machine, the 109 B machine, the 109 C machine, the 717 machine, the 013 machine and the 757 machine. Systematic development, in 1984 he was named one of the first batch of “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions to the Country”.

  Zeng Maochao supported and encouraged scientific researchers to establish the New Technology Development Company of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (the predecessor of Lenovo) in 1984. He was later entrusted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to serve as the chairman of Lenovo (1988-2009).
