Clément Noël takes the opportunity to take the lead in the classification of the specialty ahead of the Swede Andre Myhrer (4th in Zagreb) while the favorites for the general classification were missed: Alexis Pinturault finished 9th (at 97 hundredths) and the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen 19th (at 1 sec 36).

Revelation from last season where he had won three slaloms (Wengen, Kitzbühel and Soldeu), the 22-year-old Vosgien first played placed in the first inning (4th to 27 hundredths) where several favorites were trapped by the course (Pinturault and Kristoffersen in particular), before setting the 7th time of the 2nd round to win.

Victor Muffat-Jeandet finished 12th and Jean-Baptiste Grange 15th.

Several surprises marked the first men's race of the year: the 2019 Italian junior world champion Alex Vinatzer climbed on his first World Cup podium and the Belgian Armand Marchant finished 5th, equaling the best result in history for a skier from his country.
