The National Police investigates a complaint of sexual abuse and harassment of a 13-year-old girl, a student of the IES Cardenal Herrera Oria in Madrid, who had to be admitted to a psychiatric unit due to her serious risk situation before a suicide attempt, self-harm, depression and refusal to feed. According to sources from the Ministry of Education of the Community of Madrid, the educational center initiated a protocol that "remains open" after the complaint of the facts.

In addition, the girl's family was offered a change of center for the current school year and the Home Educational Support Service (SAED), given the student's inability to attend class.

Her father, who prefers not to be identified to preserve his privacy and that of his daughter, explains to EFE that the sexual assault occurred a few months ago in a bathroom of the institute, where two classmates of second year of secondary school cornered her, closed the latch, undressed her and sexually assaulted her. "She comes out crying, but she goes into shock, doesn't react and isn't able to tell what happened" until much later. The aggression was added to the bullying that the girl was suffering for some time by these two students, also 13 years old, he adds.

In her personal diary, the child recounts the abuse and constant insults to the point that "she heard voices telling her to kill yourself," explains the father.

According to the minutes of the IES Cardenal Herrera Oria, signed by its director and dated May 11, 2023, "there is insufficient evidence at the moment or they are not conclusive. It is decided to prolong the inquiries with observation record."

What the girl suffered led to a suicide attempt, self-harm, stopped eating and weighed 39 kilos, had permanent fear, depression, anxiety, anger and panic to return to the educational center, so she had to be admitted to La Paz and then for a month in a psychiatric clinic, explains the father.

Father's complaint

"Despite all this, the institute continued to do nothing, slammed the door on me and did not notify social services. This center has had and has several more cases of harassment, but they hide it, "denounces the father, who before the aggression already observed bruises and wounds that the girl justified by sports practice and that he now recognizes were pushes and blows from her harassers.

The minor, whom her aggressors forced under extortion to send them nude photos, according to the father, currently takes five pills a day and studies at home because "she does not want to see those boys, who continue to do their normal lives, they have no worries."

On the other hand, he concludes, "the police tell me that they are unimputable children (being minors), they will call their attention and nothing more. I wonder why they don't separate them from the center when there is still an ongoing investigation, but they haven't done anything, deaf ears."
