Yolanda Díaz has reappeared this Wednesday in Madrid after the blow of the left in the municipal and regional elections to send a message of tranquility and to try to calm the nerves that exist between the parties and the voters of the space around Sumar. The Vice President of the Government has stressed that she is aware of the situation that exists and that she assumes the "challenge" of the moment to unite the alternative left of the PSOE in its candidacy to face the general elections.

In her first public appearance after the elections of 28-M, the leader of Sumar has made a very brief statement to the media in Madrid before entering the presentation of the book Perder la gracia, written by EL MUNDO journalists Pedro Simón and Antonio Lucas and by Javier Gómez Santander and Eduardo Madina . It has been barely 30 seconds to realize that he takes charge of the challenge ahead: "Spain is waiting for us".

"I know there are many Democrats and many progressive people who are discouraged and concerned in our country today. I send you a clear message, of hope and confidence: I assume the challenge and we go out to win this country, "said Díaz, trying to lift the spirits of the electorate and dispel the uncertainty that exists about the unity of space.

Not a word has wanted to say about the elections or the state of the negotiations that have been opened between Sumar and a fortnight of political parties in recent days to finish their inclusion in a joint candidacy that breathes votes and optimism to the left to face the elections of July 23 with guarantees.

One of those parties is Podemos, with which relations less than a week ago were very cold and strained. However, the magnitude of the electoral slap has been such for the entire political space that neither of them has any choice but to agree. And, one of the consequences of the electoral advance is that Pedro Sánchez has forced both to decree a truce, stop the war and seek an express pact that saves the candidacy and, with it, also try to maintain the coalition government with the PSOE.
