Podemos Asturias has registered tonight before the Provincial Electoral Board the list of the formation to the regional elections of 28-M headed by the candidate Covadonga Tomé but without including Jorge Fernández in the number 'four', being immersed in a sanctioning process dictated by the State Guarantees Committee.

Precisely Tomé and members of the sector critical of the regional leadership had locked themselves in the party's headquarters in Gijón since Friday to demand that the full candidacy that the militancy had voted in primaries, including Fernández himself, be presented.

The official presentation of the candidacy, before the deadline at midnight on Monday, has been the latest episode in the deep dispute between the regional Executive and critics, which has been accentuated in recent weeks but that drags since the change of direction in 2021.

Party sources have explained that the documentation of the candidacy includes the full list arising from the primaries last November, but with the exception that Fernández does not appear because a sanctioning file weighs on him that disqualifies him from appearing in the list of candidates for the regional Parliament.

In this way, the number four finally falls on the mayor in the City of Oviedo Ana Taboada, who ascends from the position 'number seven'.

Protest of the critical sector

Prior to the registration, members of the Podemos candidacy, aligned with the critical sector, have concentrated at the headquarters of the provincial Electoral Board in Oviedo to transfer their concern that a different candidacy was registered than the one chosen by the affiliates.

Fernández himself was in that group and criticized that if he was not finally included in the 'number four' of the list, it would imply that internal democracy in the party is altered and he reserved the right to take legal action.

Yesterday, Tomé indicated that he had already collected 1,200 signatures in support of the list resulting from the primaries and 38 members of the candidacy, so he urged the leadership of the purple formation to preserve the list in its entirety in primaries.

The state leadership of the party has transmitted its support for the candidacy in Asturias and advised the entire organization to turn to the "positive" campaign for the elections of 28-M, where they have options to be decisive for a future regional government in the Principality.
