  • Politics Podemos assures that Yolanda Díaz offered Irene Montero to be ambassador in Chile as a "political solution"

  • Podcast Ten years of Podemos: "The worst thing is that Iglesias is still behind everything"

We can have entered a loop.

The same people repeat themselves over and over again, no matter what the circumstance.

Many of the leaders who accompany

Ione Belarra

in the party Executive already serve or are about to become the leaders of the

purple

formation in their respective autonomous communities.

And not only that, quite a few of these members of the leadership and many other regional leaders also swell the Podemos candidacy for the European elections on June 9, which will be headed by

Irene Montero

, after previously passing through other lists in the elections in May or July.

Isa Serra

,

Pablo Fernández

,

María Teresa Pérez

,

Conchi Abellán

... So much accumulation of positions and so much repetition of the same names in each primary process brings to light the problems that Podemos is going through to have cadres on the front line.

In reality, the cause is how narrow the circle of trust of the national leadership is becoming, in which strict adherence to the marked line prevails above all, since the party is going through a delicate moment in which its survival in the face of Sumar's push in the political space of the left and in which he has adopted a strategy of confrontation with

Yolanda Díaz

to survive.

Primary

In the primaries that begin tomorrow there are several voting boxes: the candidates for the European and Basque elections and those for electing the leaderships of the Community of Madrid, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Asturias, the Canary Islands and the Region of Murcia.

When this process is over there will be up to 10 members of the Belarra Executive who will also serve as regional coordinators.

This ensures absolute control of the organization by the leadership, since they will short-circuit the party in the autonomous communities with more political weight and where the

purples

have more interests.

The exception to this is Navarra, the only region where Podemos co-governs, and it does so with a person inclined to Sumar.

These 10 are Isa Serra (Madrid), Pablo Fernández (Castilla y León),

Martina Velarde

(Andalusia), María Teresa Pérez (Valencian Community), Conchi Abellán (Catalonia),

Javier Sánchez Serna

(Murcia),

Lucía Muñoz

(Balearic Islands),

Irene de Miguel

(Extremadura),

Pilar Garrido

(Euskadi) and

Noemí Santana

(Canary Islands).

In 2020,

Pablo Iglesias

eliminated the limitation on internal positions in the Code of Ethics.

" Podemos has become entrenched," Juan Carlos Monedero

recently lamented

in an interview in this newspaper.

Well, it seems that this process has gone further after the disappointment of seeing how some of its leaders or candidates joined Sumar at some point -

Jesús Santos, Nacho Álvarez, Alejandra Jacinto, Jota Cañadas

,...- or what they do movements to get closer to Yolanda Díaz -

Roberto Sotomayor, Carolina Alonso

,...-.

Identity withdrawal

The party is in an identity retreat in its political strategy but it is also taking refuge in the same positions of trust to tightly control all the resources of the party and endure the downpour of bad times and electoral prospects with high doses of discipline and loyalty .

This closing of ranks is seen very well in Montero's candidacy for the Europeans: there are nine members of the Executive (some already mentioned such as Serra, Fernández, Pérez or Abellán, but others appear such as

Julio Rodríguez, Pedro Honrubia

or

Alejandro Zapico

).

Likewise, other regional leaders such as those of Castilla-La Mancha,

José Luis Gascón

, and Galicia,

Borja San Román

, or the current candidate for the Xunta,

Carmen Fajardo

, are used for filling positions on the list ;

or it is completed with quite a few people who carry out technical work within the different structures of the party, from Brussels to the discourse.
