The driver who ran over seven people in the center of Granada on Friday, including a 14-year-old minor, has been released with charges despite testing positive for alcohol and drugs and speeding.

As reported to EFE sources of the Local Police of Granada, which has taken charge of the proceedings of the event, the person responsible for the outrage, a 23-year-old novice driver, has been released with charges.

The accident took place after 7:45 am when a vehicle left the road at number 75 of the central San Antón street in Granada and ran over seven people, including a child under 14 years old.

Two other occupants of the vehicle involved in the event were also injured in the incident.

According to the police statement of one of the occupants of the vehicle, the driver was traveling at about 80 kilometers per hour, so he did not make the turn when passing from Alhamar Street to San Antón, an area limited to 30 kilometers.

The driver tested positive at the time of the events in the controls of drug and alcohol consumption, a test in which he threw 0.74 and 0.71 milligrams per liter in exhaled air, well above the maximum 0.15 allowed in novice drivers.

The young man will face possible charges for a crime of reckless driving and another for doing so under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The health workers treated seven people run over, between 14 and 23 years old, who were evacuatedto two hospitals in Granada.
