The French want to go on vacation this summer and it is felt on the roads and in the stations, since the SNCF is planning a record weekend and Bison smart has classified Saturday as "black".

Paris, South-West and the Mediterranean are the most popular destinations for recharging your batteries this summer.

This weekend marks the traditional crossover between Julyists and Augustians.

Traffic will be very complicated this Friday on the roads, announced Bison smart.

Saturday is classified as "black".

In the stations, the SNCF expects 400,000 travelers this Friday and a million throughout the weekend, which constitutes a record level of reservations.

In search of sun and sea

Vacationers will prefer to look for two things: the sea and the sun.

The French have not changed their habits too much compared to last year.

Unsurprisingly, the Mediterranean and the South-West are popular with several thousand reservations.

Brittany too should welcome a large number of travellers.

Paris, the most popular city

The top five of the most popular destinations for tourists does not change either: Paris in first place, followed by Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and finally Avignon.

So if you're heading to these cities this weekend, be prepared to pass through crowded train stations.

There are also a few surprises, in particular the Grand-Est region where reservations are up sharply this summer, particularly for the cities of Nancy, Metz and Reims where we see 60% more reservations compared to 2019, which is a record.

Still ten million tickets available for the month of August

For those who would still like to be tempted, there are still train tickets to leave this weekend, mainly to Lyon, Lille or Nantes.

And for the month of August, more than 10 million tickets are waiting to find takers.
