Senator Tsekov commented on the statement of the State Department on the "control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" over Mariupol

“They want to somehow raise the morale of their supporters in the United States and support Zelensky and his entourage.

Giving them imaginary chances,” the senator believes.

According to him, Zelensky himself has already stated that "a breakthrough in Mariupol, surrounded by troops, is impossible in principle."

“At the same time, they want to reduce the role and success of the armed forces of the DPR and the Russian armed forces,” Tsekov added.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, called the words of the State Department about the “control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” over Mariupol complicity with terrorists.

On April 21, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the capture of Mariupol under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, the LPR and the DPR. 

He noted that the city itself had been liberated, but militants still remained on the territory of Azovstal.
