From our correspondent in Kuala Lumpur,

A slow and harmonic melody, garlands of flowers arranged on a moucharabieh screen, romanticism is there, but the bride in a tunic and a white veil stands in front of the television in her living room. Around them, his father and his brothers: on the head a kopiah, traditional hat of Muslim men, and on the mouth, a surgical mask. No husband by his side, but in the TV set. On his sofa with his two parents, he addresses his future stepfather to ask him for his daughter's hand…

This initiative is unprecedented in Malaysia and the Minister of Religious Affairs, who is also a mufti, a Muslim judge, welcomes it. Posted on his Facebook page, he wrote in caption of this video: Ahmdullilah, Bravo to the newlyweds for this ceremony in accordance with the decision of the National Council for Islamic Affairs of Malaysia.

To find each other, these first spouses who said yes via a screen will have to wait until April 28 minimum, the current date of confinement.
