In Marseille, candidate LR Martine Vassal came first in the first round of municipal elections on Sunday, ahead of Michèle Rubirola (PS / PCF) and candidate RN Stéphane Ravier.

It is one of the most observed polls of these municipal elections. It must be said that the situation is unprecedented. For the first time since 1995, Jean-Claude Gaudin (LR) will not be leading in Marseille, where the councilor does not represent himself. After him, a very open race delivered its first results on Sunday, after the first lap. The LR candidate, Martine Vassal, came out on top with 23 %% of the vote. Behind, we find Michèle Rubirola (21% of the votes) and Stéphane Ravier from RN (19.5%).

The Marseilles ballot is made particular by the presence of districts and sectors. Voters vote for 303 councilors. Then, within each sector, which includes two boroughs, two-thirds of the elected officials will be sector councilors and one third of municipal councilors. It is the municipal councilors, therefore 101 people, who elect the mayor of the city.
