In Montpellier, Philippe Saurel, the various outgoing left mayor, came first after the first round of municipal elections on Sunday, in front of Michaël Delafosse, socialist, and the unlabeled Mohed Altrad.

With no less than thirteen candidates, the first round of the municipal elections in Montpellier promised to be hot. Finally, it was Philippe Saurel, outgoing mayor of various left parties, who came out on top on Sunday, with 19.11% of the vote. He is ahead of the socialist Michaël Delafosse (16.66%) and the unlabeled entrepreneur Mohed Altrad (13.30%).

The municipal campaign in Montpellier was marked by a series of twists and turns, starting with Philippe Saurel's very late entry on February 19. The environmental candidate, Clothilde Ollier (7.25%), for her part faced a complicated internal election, then the withdrawal of her EELV nomination on the grounds that she strayed too far from the line of movement. On the far right, the National Rally has withdrawn the party's nomination for Olaf Rokvam due to the presence of a very controversial running mate.
