On December 29, the Tibet Autonomous Region ushered in the annual "Lighting Day".

The "Lighting Day" is commonly known as the Five Offerings Festival. It is the day when Master Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, passed away. It is held every year on the 25th of October in the Tibetan calendar.

On the same day, the monks lit up thousands of butter lamps at the Sera Monastery in Lhasa to commemorate Master Tsongkhapa, wishing all beings peace and happiness.
