Last year, it was found that each Korean citizen paid about 12 million won in taxes.

This is an increase of 3 million won compared to 2017.

According to the office of Representative Kim Sang-hoon belonging to the Planning and Finance Committee of the National Assembly, the total amount of national and local taxes, including national and local taxes, and social security contributions such as pension and insurance premiums, totaled 619.4 trillion won last year.

This is an increase of 153.9 trillion won from 465.5 trillion won in 2017, the first year of the Moon Jae-in administration.

The per capita burden by dividing the national burden by the number of people in the year increased from 8.99 million won to 11.99 million won during the same period.

The amount of tax each citizen pays has increased by 3 million won in four years.

The tax burden increases even more when calculating the working-age population aged 15 to 64 who are in charge of actual economic activities, excluding youth and the elderly.

Last year, the national burden per person of the working-age population was 16.89 million won, an increase of nearly 5 million won from 12.37 million won in 2017.

Rep. Kim Sang-hoon said, "Financial soundness has deteriorated due to the government's 5 years of ticket-based financial investment and excessive cash-based welfare." Measures must be put into practice,” he said.
