A forest fire that broke out this Wednesday afternoon in the municipality of
Val de Santa María
, an annex to the municipality of
Otero de Bodas (Zamora),
has forced the
Madrid-Galicia AVE
line to be cut in the section that runs between the capital of Zamora and the Sanabria Alta Velocidad station.
The Fire Extinguishing Service of the Junta de Castilla y León in Zamora has decreed
level two of fire danger
, on an ascending scale that goes from zero to three, due to the fire affecting the railway infrastructure, the Ministry has reported Environment, Housing and Territory Planning of the Autonomous Government.
The fire started around 5:15 p.m. this Wednesday, for reasons not yet determined, in that municipality already affected by the first of the fires that included the Sierra de la Culebra de Zamora reserve.
Two technicians, six environmental agents, three helicopters, three helicopter crews, three ground crews, two machinery checkpoints, five fire engines and the Rionegro Fire Brigade of the Zamora Provincial Consortium's Fire Brigade work on the extinction work.
Renfe has established a road transfer for those affected.
