The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, was in Extremadura on February 5 and promised to improve the line between Extremadura and Madrid. In addition, he announced that Madrid and
Badajoz will be connected by train in four hours in 2025, when the
Mérida
bypass , a 30-kilometer works that is very advanced,
will be completed "in just over a year."
This improvement, as well as the doubling of the track between the capital of Extremadura and
Aljucén
, whose works are going to be put out to tender, will allow the journey to be reduced by 15 minutes, which will leave the trip between Badajoz and Madrid to four hours in 2025.
