China News Service, July 20. On the 20th, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the operation of the agricultural and rural economy in the first half of the year. Liu Lihua, head of the Plantation Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that it is initially estimated that this year's autumn grain area is expected to exceed 1.3 billion mu. an increase over the previous year.

Liu Lihua introduced that the bulk of the annual grain production is autumn grain, which accounts for 75%. The key to achieving a bumper grain harvest throughout the year depends on autumn grain.

Judging from what we know so far, this year's autumn grain harvest still has a certain foundation. There are mainly two judgments:

One judgment is that the area increases.

We all know that area is the basis of production.

At present, except for some double-cropping late rice and late autumn grain crops, most of the autumn grain area has been landed.

According to preliminary estimates, this year's autumn grain area is expected to exceed 1.3 billion mu, an increase over the previous year.

The area is mainly increased in three aspects: First, all localities are responsible for consolidating their responsibilities, rectifying abandoned land, clearing up "non-grain", developing intercropping, and striving to plant enough crops; second, the weather conditions during spring and summer sowing are generally favorable, The soil moisture is relatively good. For example, last year in southern China, which could not be planted due to drought, it has also been planted this year. Third, the price of grain is relatively good, and farmers are more motivated to plant grain.

Another judgment is that the growth is generally normal.

The bulk of autumn grain is in the northeast, and the northeast grain accounts for more than 1/3 of the autumn grain. This year, most of the northeast has good rainfall and sufficient moisture content. Except for the heavy rainfall in some areas, the farmland is flooded and some corn is damaged, the crops in most areas are growing better than Year round.

The rice growth in the south is also generally normal. The Huanghuaihai and Northwest regions are mainly corn and soybeans, and the growth is also good.

There are still more than two months before the harvest of autumn grains. The three months of July, August and September are not only the critical period for the growth and development of autumn grains and the formation of yields, but also the period when droughts, floods, typhoons and other disasters occur frequently and repeatedly, and it is also the most harmful period of pests and diseases. When it is serious, there are still many hurdles to pass to seize the autumn harvest, and the task is still very arduous.

In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will follow the central government's decision-making and deployment, and make every effort to ensure the production of autumn grains to ensure that the annual grain output remains above 1.3 trillion kilograms.

The focus is on three things:

The first is to do a good job in the implementation of the area.

The key is to ensure that late rice and late autumn crops should be planted as much as possible, and planted in the suitable sowing period, especially to guide the development of regenerative rice in areas where "two seasons are less than one season".

The second is to do a good job in field management of autumn grains.

Formulate and improve the technical opinions on field management of autumn grains by crops and regions, and continue to organize our ministry, provincial and provincial packaging work groups and scientific and technological teams to go deep into the production line, instruct farmers to improve the fertilizer and water management of autumn grains, and implement key measures to ensure safety, maturity, and promotion. Yield increased.

The third is to do a good job in disaster prevention and mitigation.

The key is to do a good job in preventing disasters such as floods, summer droughts, high temperature and heat damage, typhoons, early frosts, and cold dew winds, so as to achieve "longkou grabbing food".

Strengthen the prevention and control of major diseases and insect pests such as the "three zones and four belts" of Spodoptera frugiperda and the "two migration" pests of rice, so as to realize the "insect population grabs food".
