[Explanation] On December 27th, Baidu founder, chairman and CEO Robin Li said that intelligent transportation will make China's first-tier cities no longer need to limit purchases and traffic within 5 years, and basically solve the congestion problem within 10 years.

[Explanation] On the same day, Baidu Create 2021 (Baidu AI Developer Conference) was held in the Metaverse APP "Hearth". This is the first time that a conference has been held in Metaverse in China.

Li Yanhong is in it, sharing his views on intelligent transportation.

[Explanation] Robin Li believes that intelligent transportation can help reduce road traffic accidents by 90%.

Globally, 1.35 million people die in traffic accidents every year, which means that an average of one person is killed every 24 seconds.

94% of traffic accidents are caused by human factors, including inattention, misjudgment, fatigue, and drunk driving.

Autonomous driving will eliminate the human factor.

As the technology matures, autonomous driving will be safer than human drivers.

[Explanation] Robin Li said that intelligent transportation will also systematically solve the congestion problem.

At present, China has approximately 280 million cars in total, and the traffic speed during peak commuting periods in large cities is only 20 kilometers. It is urgent to find new solutions for transportation.

Experimental data proves that when all intersections in a city are intelligentized and optimized for city-level regional information control, traffic efficiency can be improved by 15%-30%.

In Huangpu District, Guangzhou, the average number of times each vehicle encounters a red light has dropped from three or four times to about one.

We found through simulations combined with graph neural networks that if all intersections in a city are intelligentized and optimized for city-level regional information control, traffic efficiency can be improved by 15%-30%.

We judge that within 5 years, China's first-tier cities will no longer need purchase restrictions and traffic restrictions; within 10 years, the congestion problem can basically be solved.

[Explanation] In the field of autonomous driving travel services, Baidu has also created another milestone in the history of intelligent transportation.

Li Yanhong introduced that Baidu's "Carrot Run" released in August 2021 has become the world's largest autonomous driving service provider.

Baidu’s self-driving travel service platform "Carrot Quick Run" released in August has provided 115,000 services in the past quarter, making Carrot Quick Run the world’s largest autonomous driving travel service provider.

We hope to expand the service to 65 cities in 2025 and to 100 cities by 2030.
