The Bay Area Book City project is located in the new center of Qianhai City in the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, on the east side of the central green axis of the central area of Bao'an. It is called the "Eyes of the Bay Area" because of its double jade plate design concept.

The project occupies an area of 66,000 square meters. It is the first to combine the bookstore and the folklore museum. The building area is 131,000 square meters (including the 10,000 square meters of the Bay Area Folklore Museum), with two floors above ground and underground.

The Bay Area Book City project is designed with the "Jade Plate" as the design concept. The book city and the Folklore Pavilion stand on it in two circular shapes, like two warm jade plates, and the square building on the other side of the central green axis of Bao'an District. The library and the Baoan Youth Palace echo each other, forming an overall pattern of "a place with a round sky", forming a rich cultural living space, and providing citizens with multi-faceted and diversified cultural experiences.

The Book City in the Bay Area will also be a book city in the park: an open design connects the underground and above-ground spaces. It is a book city in the park and a park in the book city.

The internal space of the book city in the Bay Area draws on the "curved water flow" to connect reading paths in series, while the stairs and ramps are designed as "book hills" and "jade belts" to jointly create a poetic cultural experience.

Tang Hanlong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shenzhen Publishing Group, said in an interview that the Bay Area Book City takes knowledge services as its core to build a complex multicultural service platform integrating knowledge growth, cultural release, art and cultural performance, and scientific and technological innovation.

Among them, the Bay Area Folklore Museum, as an important part of the Bay Area Book City, is an international activity that inherits the excellent traditional Chinese culture, showcases the folk customs of the Lingnan, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and combines display and experience, research and inheritance. State-of-the-art public welfare cultural venues, serving Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and shaping the humanistic spirit of the Bay Area.

The Bay Area Book City is a new-generation book city built by Shenzhen Publishing Group after Shenzhen Book City Luohu City, Nanshan City, Central City, Baoan City, Longgang City, and Longhua City. It is also one of Shenzhen's "Top Ten Cultural Facilities in the New Era".
