Dubai launches the "Ambassadors of Competitiveness" program to qualify citizens

The Dubai Competitiveness Office in Dubai Economy, in cooperation with the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland, launched the “Competitiveness Ambassadors” professional diploma program, the first of its kind in the field of competitiveness at the level of the UAE, as part of efforts to support, train and build technical capabilities of citizens in the field of competitiveness.

A statement issued today stated that the program is in line with the Dubai government's agenda in the field of qualifying and developing its Emirati cadres in specialized fields, such as future foresight, global competitiveness, and artificial intelligence, as the city is moving towards its goal of being the best competitive city in the world.

The program focuses on establishing an ideal educational environment supported by the latest platforms and tools, to enable Dubai government employees, specifically those at the administrative and technical levels in the field of research, studies, strategies, and other relevant areas of competitiveness, to be competitive ambassadors in their institutions.

According to the statement, candidates from a number of government agencies were selected for the first batch of the program, based on the priority given to competitiveness in the Dubai Strategic Plan 2030, to start on September 6, 2021 and last for two months.

Director General of Dubai Economy, Sami Al Qamzi, said that competitiveness is the vital element that integrates Dubai's vision and ambitions and enhances proactivity and readiness for the future.

He added: "Governments around the world are adopting new technologies and methods to provide a distinct experience in the field of doing business and quality of life, and we see Dubai deepening further to make competitiveness a culture and a way of life, which will be reflected in all aspects of life in the Emirate."

He explained that the professional diploma program "Ambassadors of Competitiveness" will ensure that competitiveness is an integral part of the culture that guides Emiratis and government agencies in serving the state and its expanding community of citizens, residents and visitors.

In turn, Director of the Dubai Competitiveness Office in Dubai Economy, Hani Al Hamli, said that the professional program will establish a cadre of Emiratis who are aware of the technical components to achieve and maintain competitiveness, including the basics, methodologies, and best practices that will rank Dubai as the most competitive in the world.

He added: “The program aims to enhance the basic concepts of competitiveness and its importance at the level of the Emirate of Dubai;

Getting acquainted with global indicators and reports, the mechanisms for measuring them according to international organizations and institutions, and the tools used in them;

And an indication of the extent of the role and contribution of government institutions in formulating programs and initiatives aimed at raising the competitiveness of the Emirate.
