<Anchor> As a

special law was passed in March, the location of the new airport in the southeast region was narrowed down to Gadeok-do in Busan. It seems that they were aiming for compensation, but there is no way to do it right now.

Reporter Hwa Kang-yoon covered the scene.

Gadeokdo Daehang Village, which used to be a quiet fishing village, is noisy these days with the sound of hammers and saws.

When the Gadeokdo New Airport Special Penalty Act was enacted in March and the construction of the new airport became visible, new buildings were suddenly soaring all over the expected candidate area.

If all goes as planned, this is the land that will be accommodated for building the runway, but you can find prefabricated houses like this all over town this year, and there are many places that are currently under construction.

[Daehang Village Resident: Are these not meant to make money? A new airport is coming in, and it is an event (act) to get a ticket (reward).] The

number of permits for new construction this year on Gadeokdo Island has already been 110 cases up to last month, which is already twice the number of last year and more than 7 times compared to 15 cases last year.

[The other side across the street is all newly built... .]

Residents suffer from dust and noise that has been going on for months.

[Residents of Daehang Village: Noisy, noisy, dusty all over the house... .] In

addition, there are many buildings in haste on the steep hillside, so safety is a concern.

[Kim Myung-ja / Daehang Village Merchant: These are the houses that were built (newly) after they were all gone and collapsed during the typhoon. (The birdhouses) aren't all prefabricated. It is for compensation.] The

local government, which is the holder of the permit, can only limit development for up to 5 years under the current law, but considering the airport construction that will last at least 10 years, it is difficult to use their hands right away.

[Gilgeun Lee / Head of Architecture, Gangseo-gu Office, Busan: I am trying to use it appropriately in time, so there are difficulties that I cannot do right now. Because restricting building permits without a legal basis is a violation of the people's right to private property... .] What's

even more worrisome for the indigenous people is that their opposition to the construction of the airport can be distorted by people who build houses they won't even live in and transfer their resident registration numbers.

[A person who lives only looking at the sea, where will he go? We can't live.]
