Because of the "Belt and Road" construction, builders from China and Cambodia are fortunate to spend two New Years together, one is Chinese New Year and the other is Cambodian New Year. On New Year's Eve, the canteen of the Phnom Penh Drexel International Airport project was particularly lively, as employees from both countries gathered together to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

CHHORN META, a young Cambodian employee, studied in China. After graduation, he joined the First Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau and returned to Cambodia to participate in the construction of Phnom Penh Drexel International Airport. On February 9, under the leadership of Chinese employees, Meda and everyone posted couplets, made dumplings, enjoyed dragon and lion dances, and experienced some traditional Chinese Spring Festival customs.

"I like Chinese culture very much, and this is my first time to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Cambodia." Maida said: "I really like making dumplings with everyone. The atmosphere is warm and full of happiness, which makes me completely integrated into the team. "

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Chinese employee Xie Haiqi sent New Year greetings to his family via video call: "Mom, Dad, Happy New Year. Everything is going well for me in Cambodia. This is the New Year red envelope I received. The New Year atmosphere here is very strong, just like at home." "

This is the first time Xie Haiqi has left his hometown and parents to celebrate the New Year overseas, but it is not as deserted as he imagined. He said that his colleagues on the project are all young people. They play games and prepare performances together, which makes it feel more lively than at home.

Guo Zhiliang, who is in his 30s, is Xie Haiqi's master. This year is his fourth year of working overseas. As a young "old overseas Chinese", he is very aware of the psychological state of young employees.

"It's the first time to spend the Spring Festival overseas. It's normal to feel flustered and uncomfortable. After work, I will take them to watch movies and play games in the past few days. I will accompany them in a young way and let young people Employees feel the warmth of family," Guo Zhiliang said.

Wherever there are Chinese people, there is a "New Year flavor". Zhang Jun, general manager of the installation company of the First Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, also stayed on the front line of the project this year and celebrated the New Year on the spot with his project colleagues.

"During the Spring Festival, we followed traditional customs by posting Spring Festival couplets and hanging lanterns in the project camp, and prepared New Year red envelopes and holiday gift packages for our colleagues, so that employees from China and Cambodia could celebrate the New Year together in a lively manner," Zhang Jun told reporters.
