Samsung Electronics signed a labor-management collective agreement for the first time in 52 years. At the same time, in-house catering, which was sanctioned by the Fair Trade Commission for driving away affiliates, was also opened to small and medium-sized businesses.

Reporter Han Sang-woo pointed out the background of Samsung's move like this with the parole of Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong in front of his nose.

In May of last year, Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong emphasized his will to break with the negative past through an apology to the public after undergoing various investigations and trials, including the case of state affairs.

One of them is the abolition of non-union management.

[Lee Jae-yong / Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics (May of last year): We will no longer use the word 'union-free management'

in Samsung

.] After

a year and three months, Samsung Electronics' labor and management met and signed a collective agreement.

[I will proceed with the signing.] This

is the first contract signing in 52 years.

[Kim Man-jae/Chairman of the Korean Federation of Trade Unions: I think that the first negotiation is very meaningful.]

[Kim Hyun-seok/Samsung Electronics CEO: I think today is a special day. It is also a special day for us to hold the signing ceremony... .] The

agreement contains 95 provisions, including guarantees for union activities and the right to bargain, and wage negotiations will begin next month.

Samsung Electronics also announced a competitive bid to small and medium-sized catering companies, saying that it would fully open six in-house restaurants in Suwon, Gwangju, and Gumi.

After being sanctioned by the Fair Trade Commission for driving work to an affiliated catering company, Welstory, they took action.

In consideration of the controversy over preferential treatment that is heating up after the decision on parole, the business world interprets that the company will focus on restoring public trust through a full-fledged win-win move around the time of release tomorrow (13th).

However, as the government mentioned consideration of the national economic situation and the global economic environment as the reason for the parole of Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, we are faced with the task of producing meaningful results in the increasingly fierce competition for smartphones and semiconductors.
