At Mercedes, the armored models intended for politicians and important personalities of this world are an old story since the first of them was built already… 93 years ago! Meeting the VPAM VR10 standard, the new S 680 Guard is able to withstand explosions and heavy weapon fire. On the program, we find tires that allow it to run 30 km flat, on-board fire extinguishers to put out fires on the road, a reserve of fresh air in the event of a chemical attack, hydraulic window regulators and doors whose opening is assisted by jacks due to their additional weight. With a mass of more than 5 tons, this sedan needs a big engine: it is a 6-liter twin-turbo V12 developing 612 hp! And to transfer the power to the 4 wheels,the S 680 Guard is fitted with 4 Matic all-wheel drive which distributes 69% of the torque to the rear wheels for better balance.
