As of August 20, a total of 46.636 million tons of wheat were purchased in the main producing areas, a year-on-year decrease of 12.338 million tons; among them, the lowest purchase price of wheat was 6.123 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 12.075 million tons. The volume of acquisitions is roughly the same as the average level of the same period in the past three years.
Mainly, the market price of wheat in some areas is higher than the minimum purchase price, and the quantity of wheat to be purchased in the market has decreased; in the context of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, farmers have increased their awareness of grain storage and disaster prevention, and some farmers and brokers are optimistic about the future market holding grain. The period of grain sales will be further lengthened; in addition, flood conditions and weather will also affect grain purchases.
A total of 758,000 tons of rapeseed in the main producing area was purchased, a year-on-year decrease of 66,000 tons. A total of 4.019 million tons of early indica rice were purchased in the main producing area, an increase of 556,000 tons year-on-year. Among them, the minimum purchase price for early indica rice was 387,000 tons, an increase of 387,000 tons year-on-year.
