- We should convince our other friends and allies that the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes is just wrong, says Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and continues:

- Boycott is the next step, I think people understand why it is necessary.

Kallas held a press conference in Tallinn together with Latvia's Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins and Lithuania's Ingrida Simonyte.

Karins said it would be "morally reprehensible" if Russia is allowed to participate in the summer games in France, which begin on July 22, 2024.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine barely a year ago, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been suspended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Last week, the IOC opened the door for Russian Olympic participation in Paris next year.

A message that was welcomed by both a UN expert panel and the US.

The Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania belonged to the Soviet Union until independence in 1991.
