Costa Rica is threatened with the absence of its player from the World Cup due to “doping”

Costa Rica midfielder Orlando Gallo is at risk of missing the World Cup after FIFA said today that it had suspended the player temporarily for breaching anti-doping rules.

The Costa Rican Football Association said that the result of a random test that Gallo, 22, underwent last September, was positive for the presence of prohibited substances.

"FIFA can confirm that the player has been provisionally suspended under the FIFA Anti-Doping Rules and has begun the usual procedures," a FIFA spokesperson told Reuters.

Costa Rica will start its World Cup campaign on November 23 against Spain.
