Arsenal stumbles in the English Premier League, and Manchester City are the biggest beneficiaries

Leaders Arsenal missed two points in the Premier League title race with a 1-1 draw at Southampton on Sunday.

Granit Xhaka put Arsenal ahead after 11 minutes with a powerful shot from close range, but Stuart Armstrong equalized for the hosts in the 65th minute.

Arsenal have 28 points from 11 games, two points behind defending champion and second-placed Manchester City, while Southampton is 15th with 12 points from 12 games.

The visiting team started strongly in the first 15 minutes and launched a series of attacks on the home side until they advanced with a goal from Xhaka, who also scored during the victory over PSV Eindhoven in the European League last weekend.

Bukayo Saka passed the ball to Ben White, the right back, and sent a powerful cross that Chaka turned with one touch into the net.

Southampton was lucky at the end of the first half with only one goal, but his level improved in the second half and already deserved the equalizer, while the visiting team did not continue with the same strength.

From a quick counter-attack, Mohamed El-Younissi passed to Armstrong, who fired a powerful ball into goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale's net.
