Real Madrid Vinicius acquires Spanish nationality after two years of waiting
Controversy Neymar encourages the Madrid derby and responds to Koke: "Dance Vini, dance"
A comment by a Spanish agent branded a
racist
against Real Madrid's Brazilian striker
Vinicius Junior
sparked a wave of outrage on Friday, with messages of support for the player from personalities and the Brazilian Football Confederation.
Pedro Bravo, president of the Spanish Association of Soccer Agents (AEAF), caused the controversy by criticizing on Thursday on the television program Chiringuito Show de España the celebrations of Vinicius, who usually dances on the field after scoring goals.
Bravo said that the
Canarinha
player has to "respect the opponent" and that "if he wants to dance samba" he must do it in Brazil: "You have to respect your fellow professionals and stop playing the monkey."
The use of the word mono was interpreted as a racist message, repeating an insult that black players, such as Vinicius, are often victims of in football stadiums.
The Real Madrid
striker
thanked the messages of support this Friday, in a video posted on his Twitter account in which he said that "the happiness of a black, Brazilian, winner in Europe" is uncomfortable.
"I was a victim of xenophobia and racism in a single statement (...) They are dances to celebrate the cultural diversity of the world. Accept, respect or go crazy, I will not stop," said the player, looking at the camera.
The Brazilian star
Pelé
had reacted earlier with a message on his networks in which he assured: "although racism still exists, we will not allow that to stop us from continuing to smile."
"We will continue to fight racism in this way: fighting for our right to be happy," said the "King."
For his part, the PSG attacker
Neymar Jr.
shared a photo dancing with Vinicius, his teammate.
