After the final whistle in the 2–2 match between AIK and Hammarby at the Friends Arena, fights broke out in two different places in the arena, where Bengals were thrown at each other.

Later in the evening, the police took 97 people into custody in Årsta after a violent confrontation broke out - of which a minor could be picked up by a parent.

- Everyone who was taken into custody last night has been filmed and identified.

They were driven out to different places south of Årsta with different buses to separate the group gathering and calm down the situation, says police press secretary Ola Österling to SVT Sport.

Started comparing pictures

The police have begun the work of comparing images from Årsta with television images and the police's own cameras at Friends Arena.

- We are positive that many will be identified and called for questioning during the week.

What punishment awaits the home team and all the supporters involved is too early to answer.

Later this week, the National Operations Department (NOA), which is responsible for sports-related crime, will help with interpretations and determine the consequences of the events ahead of the next match.

- For those who are identified and have been participants in violent riots, there is prison on the punishment scale.

There may also be a question of organizer suspension or access ban.

Can the home association, AIK, be punished with a reduced audience or empty stands?

- Purely hypothetically yes.

But we'll see what Noa and the police regions come up with.

Believe in the ban on access

Swedish Elite Football has been in contact with AIK since the fights started and they will now conduct a thorough investigation into what went wrong and how to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

- It must be remembered that of the approximately 45,000 who were present, the majority were not participating in this.

It is important to have precision in order to access those who were involved.

I can see in front of me that some access bans will be handed out, says General Secretary Mats Enquist.

He believes that Swedish Elite Football, the police, the clubs and even the supporters agree on how to proceed.

- Anyone with experience knows that the conditional ladder had not helped anything, then you punish those who have done nothing.

In this way, I am very happy that we all want to work with individual prosecution.
