The 60-ranked Russian Kalinskaya, who plays under a neutral flag, managed the only break of serve in the first set and was thus able to win 6-4.

92-ranked Peterson then had his serve broken already in the first game of the second set and then went straight uphill.

The final game in the second set, which Peterson served, was also broken, which gave the final scores 6-3 in favor of Kalinskaya, who thus comfortably won and advanced.

It was a repeat of the WTA tournament in Canada last week for Rebecca Peterson.

Just like then, there was a 0–2 loss and relegation in the first round.
