Hammarby has for a long time been on the hunt for a striker this summer and the hunt intensified after Astrit Selmani was sold to Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Now the replacement is ready - in the prestige acquisition Veton Berisha from Viking.

"Fantastic overall package"

- I have known about Hammarby's interest since last winter, and the club and Martí have been clear that they really want me in the team.

It made me feel that this is something I want to be involved in - of course in combination with the supporters Hammarby has, the football Hammarby plays and the city.

It is a fantastic overall package, says Veton Berisha to the club's website.

The 28-year-old has previously played for Greuther Fürth (Germany) and Rapid Wien (Austria).

"One leader"

- In Veton, we get a national team forward who is proven to both score goals and create points for his team, and who is a leader on and off the pitch, says Hammarby's sporting director Jesper Jansson.

The transfer fee is said to be around SEK 20 million, which is one of the largest sums Hammarby has ever paid for a player.

- We are very proud that as a club we have methodically worked our way up to being in the position to be able to attract and sign a player of Berisha's caliber, and he has shown a great desire to come to us and represent Hammarby.

The striker scored 22 goals in 28 games for Viking last season and also managed to score eight goals in eleven games during the spring.
